Musselman started the season off with a 5-2 mark in dual meets at the Andrew Kenney Memorial Classic at Sherando. Musselman assistant coach Kyle Symons was a teammate of Kenney's in high school. Here are the dual meet results from this past weekend.

Musselman to open season this weekend
The Musselman wrestling team will open their 2014-2015 campaign this coming weekend at Sherando High School in Stephens City, Virginia in the Andrew Kenney Memorial Classic. Friday will begin with pool action. In the pool, Musselman will wrestle St. Mary's Ryken out of Maryland, and Amherst (VA).

Spirit Packs
Wrestlers will be receiving order forms for their spirit packs today. This year's gear will be designed by Compound Team Wear. They do great work and design for many of the top programs in the country. These logos will be on the team wear this season. I will post pictures of the gear after the artwork is finished.

Region II Tournament Tomorrow
The Region II tournament is tomorrow at Martinsburg High School. The tournament begins at 9:30 and the sixth ranked Musselman Applemen will be shooting for their first regional championship in school history. Also in the tournament will be eighth ranked Buckhannon-Upshur, just outside the top ten Washington, Elkins, Lewis County, Jefferson, Martinsburg, Hedgesville, Hampshire, and Spring Mills. Come out and support the Applemen as they attempt to do something that has never been done before in Musselman history.

Applemen Are EPAC Champions
The Musselman Applemen finished off a strong regular season last Wednesday night with a sweep of a tri-meet at Hedgesville High School. Musselman opened up the night with a win over Spring Mills. They then finished off the night with a 51-30 victory over Hedgesville. The win put the Applemen at 23-1 to finish the regular season, and they also went undefeated within the conference to become the first Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference champions. The Applemen look forward to this coming Saturday at Martinsburg High School in the Region II tournament.

Applemen To End Regular Season Wednesday Night At Hedgesville
Musselman is preparing for the home stretch with it's final regular season matches of the season. The Applemen (21-1) will head to Hedgesville High School for a tri-meet with both Hedgesville and Spring Mills. If the Applemen win both of those duals they will be crowned the Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference champions.
Kernan Takes Title, Short-Handed Applemen Take 6th at John Champe Tourney
Kody Kernan paced the Musselman Applemen as they took 6th at the Takedown Cancer tournament at John Champe High School in Aldie, Virginia with only nine wrestlers in the lineup. Kernan tech falled Briar Woods' Mick Zahora in the finals. PJ Dolan took third, Derek Estep took third, Todd Williams took third, and Bradley DeRito took fourth.

Kernan Break All-Time Win Mark at Musselman
2013 WV state champion Kody Kernan became Musselman High School's all-time wins leader last night with his final victory. Kernan finished 3-0 on the night and his final match was a 4-0 decision win over #2 ranked 145 pounder Jarod Jones of Washington. The win was Kernan's 169th career victory. Congratuations to Kody on this amazing achievement.
Applemen Sweep Quad
The Musselman Applemen swept a quad last night against all Eastern Panhandle Athletic Conference opponents. The Applemen shut out Jefferson 76-0 in the first dual, then beat Martinsburg 66-9 in the secod dual. In the final dual the Applemen took on defending 2x regional champion Washington. Musselman came out with a 42-30 win in that dual. The Applemen move on to wrestle in a tournament at John Champe High School in Aldie, Virginia this Saturday. Musselman improves to 21-1 with the sweep last night.

Applemen Take Championship at Woodgrove Tournament
The Musselman Applemen took the championship at the Get Your Bell Rung Invitational at Woodgrove, VA on Saturday. In pool action Musselman beat St. Paul's (MD) 54-24, Riverbend (VA) 60-18, and Skyline (VA) 32-24. Then in the 1st place pool Musselman beat Woodgrove (VA) 39-36, and then in the finals beat previously unbeaten Liberty Christian (VA) 39-36 to take home the first place team trophy. The Applemen improved to (18-1) in dual matches.

Applemen take 3rd at Winners Choice
Musselman placed third in the prestigious Winners Choice Tournament in Fairmont this past weekend. Parkersburg won the tournament, and Point Pleasant finished second. Kody Kernan was the lone champion for the Applemen. Bradley DeRito and David Stas took second, Derek Estep took fourth, Todd Williams placed fifth, Tyler Thomas placed sixth, and Camrin Rawlings took eighth.

Applemen Take 3rd at Hub Cup
Musselman competed in the Hub Cup tournament at North Hagerstown High School this past weekend. The Applemen ended up third in the 23 team field trailing champion Cape Henolopen, DE by 20 points. North Hagerstown took second in the tournament. Champions for the Applemen were Kody Kernan who was also voted the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament, and Bradley DeRito. Finishing runner-up for Musselman were Danny Arndt and David Stas. Derek Estep took third, PJ Dolan took fourth, and Todd Williams placed 5th. The Applemen will head to Fairmont this weekend for the Winners Choice tournament.

Applemen Take Two Wins In Tri-Meet
The Musselman Applemen wrestling team was very successful last night in a tri-meet against county opponents at Martinsburg High School. The Applemen started off the night with a 76-6 win over short-handed Spring Mills. The win included a win for Bradley DeRito who bumped up a weight class to take on ranked Demetreus Jalepes which he can out a 8-4 winner. Then Musselman wrestled Martinsburg and took a 68-12 win.

This Week for the Applemen
This week is going to be a busy week for the Musselman Applemen wrestlers. On Tuesday the JV squad will head to Sherando (VA), then on Thursday they will head to John Champe (VA). The varsity squad will be in action Wednesday night in a tri at Martinsburg High School against Martinsburg and Spring Mills. Then on Friday and Saturday the varsity team will be in the very tough Hub Cup tournament at North Hagerstown (MD) High School.

Applemen go 3-0 at University Quad
The fifth ranked Musselman Applemen took to Morgantown yesterday and came away with a huge win for the program. Musselman started out the quad with a 60-15 victory over Preston. Then they took on host University and walked away with a 45-28 victory. Then in the final dual, Musselman took on seventh ranked Point Pleasant. The Applemen walked away with a 42-31 victory there. Undefeated for the Applemen were Camrin Rawlings, PJ Dolan, Bradley DeRito, Kody Kernan, David Stas, and Kyle DeGrave. 2-1 for the Applemen were Todd Williams and Danny Arndt.
